Bill:
The first thing to remember is the age of the Gremlin. Think of the time
those parts have been bolted together.
There is an alignment pin on each side of the block where the bell housing
mates to the flange. These pins are made of steel and have more than likely
seized to the bell housing over the years. If all the bolts have been removed,
lightly tap the sides of the bell housing with a hammer and work the
transmission tail shaft up and down then side to side. Once it starts to
separate, it will come on off.
Good luck.
