I've seen some off and on chatter about the usual Gremlin/Hornet battery tray problems where they tend to rust out over time. I've got the same problem with my '72. It's on the passenger side. I've been contemplating the best way to deal with this. Seems to me there's three options; 1) clean it up, treat it and then paint over it to hide it, 2) rivet sheetmetal over the existing rust problem and paint over it to hide it, or.... 3) cut it out and replace it with a donor car part. Anyone ever do the later one, cut it out and replace it? What's the best way to do that? Drill the spot welds or just cut it out and weld in the replacement part? If I drill out the spot welds, will the panel just lift out? Of course, then there's the problem of getting it back in. Thanks for the assistance....
