Bart asked: WHUUUUUU??Eddie you'd hand over 700$ to some joe fix it just for that lifter??cmoon pop that intake and do it yourself it would save you hundreds plus it would give ya a chance to detail the engine comp.but thats only if it doesn't sell, but if i kow my Gremlin hot rods, which i do it will :( Bart No, that was just a quote! Many auto repair shops charge $75-$125 a hour now. My biggest problem is simply time. I left myself a avenue out in the auction also should I simply yank the auction with a change of mind or a serious offer. But with two little monsters running around the house, no job, bills, mortgage, and whatnot, I simply decided to thin the herd of cars. As mentioned, the 79 Concord, 74 Matador, 71 Matador, 68 AMX all have been sold, and then I looked at, and evaluated, what it would take, time, parts, money, the 82 Eagle, 88 Eagle, 74 Gremlin and 74 Bricklin. The Bricklin already has bites and that is just word of mouth from the Bricklin Club, www.bricklin.org while I have had a few inquiries on the 82 Eagle, and two on the 88 Eagle. No bites on the 74 Hornet, which is still here, and I will probably run a thrifty Nickle ad on it to simply unload it, although parting it out would be more profitable. So say it ain't so Joe, no one has gotten $700 to change a lifter, it was just a verbal conversation with the auto repair shop. I did mention the car has headers, aluminum intake also. I have one bite on the car on ebay, but again, I have a reserve on it. And if it sell,s great, I dump some of that money into finishing my interior on the SC/360 in r/w/b seats,, pay a few bills, take Paige out to a fine dining establishment (Rambler Mentality sez Mickey D's and use the 2 fer 1 coupon! No, would take her someplace where I would actually have to wear shoes and sleeves!) so the influx of $$ would be nice, but again, it is NOT a 'fire sale'. Many of you who have known me for years, know that sometimes I get frustrated by not enough time in the day to do all that I might have to, and then simply 'unload'. Here is a great example off my website: http://www.planethoustonamx.com/bodyContactUs.htm You can see how some cars in the photos appear year after year while others are one time then sold. I have owned 292 AMC's as I write this, and some I have owned for as short as 1 1/2 hours before reselling (a guy was murdered in that 73 PC aMX, the car smelled like death, gave me the creeps) while others I have owned as long as 18 years. I go thru AMC's like most people change panties, and I have passed on thousands of AMCs for sale. That SC/360 in MS for $2800 was one for instance just a few days ago. I don't get too attached to ANY of them, as one day, someone else will own them anyhows whether we want them to or not, we are all caretakers of the flames. But Bart, for $700, that is a lot of MGD and Tres Generationes Repasado tequila. So no $700 for the auto shop to change the lifter at this time, it was just a quote, as I was curious as to what it would cost to possibly have that fixed. I already pulled off the valve cover, rocker, and checked the push rod, but determined it was simply a collasped lifter after chatting with some forum members. Thanks for asking, Eddie Stakes www.planethoustonamx.com
