With the way gas prices are going I am glad the new car has a 258 1bbl. And it is a 74 with no cat, egr, electronic ignition. It just need the carb rebuilt and a manual choke, new points and the Accell super coil. I remenber the 144 cu.in. Comet's and Falcons. They were as big a stone as the 60 American I learned to drive on with the 195.6 "L" head engine that used to eat head gaskets. That was a stone power wise and worse brakeing wise. "Doc"
--- Begin Message ---Yes Doc, the 232 in a Gremlin is not that bad. It has quite a bit of get up and go. No dragster but I don't worry about getting on the expressway with it. The 258 I had in my other Gremlin had a little more ump to it but not all that much. I always contributed it to it not having any emissions controls on it and the 2 barrel carb. Now if you really wanted to see a dog it was my 60 Comet with a 144 and a 2 speed auto. You stepped on the gas and prayed.
