I am soliciting opinions as to what is the 'best' torque converter to

Any such animals available? Or is it even necessary to replace the

When it comes to the torque-converter, you will get a variety of opinions. I have had "stall" converters and "stock" converters. To be honest, the difference between the two will not be something you can tell or feel while driving the Gremlin. You may however feel a difference when sitting at a stop sign/traffic signal.......depending on how radical of a cam you use. A stall converter will allow it to idle smoother.

All converters "lock up". In newer cars it is usually done electronically. On older ones it depends on the rpm, hence a 2500 rpm stall converter will not completely lock up until it reaches around 2500 rpms, allowing the engine to idle without loading up.

When I assembled mine, I installed a "factory" type converter since the Gremlin will be used for cruising only.

Like Doc says, that's my two cents. Anybody know anything different?
