The 904 is a SIX cyl. Trans. non-4wd Vehicles The 998 Came behind the 304 and the EAGLE 6. You can tell a 998 Trans. as there is EXTRA BRACING on the back ( or TOP depending if the car is on a lift or not ) of the Trans. Case . The Bracing is cast into the case - and is clearly visable . 904 Trannies do not have the Extra bracing . You have an Original 304 V8 Gremlin "?" - You have an Original A-998 TorqueCommand. Brien. Thats what I need to know, is it a 904 or 998. Is there any tell tale markings on the tranny itself? I have never herd of a 998 in a gremlin. 904 and 3 spd is all I have ever seen. Davis
