Hey Bart and others, I posted thi son the forum eariler, thought ya'll would like to read it. The new Hemming's Muscle Machines has a really nice article in the April 04 issue. While the car is a "clone" SC/360, to me at least it is a WIN/WIN situation. Why? Because the car was rescued from going to the crusher, something many of you are familiar with and something I have written over the years from my experiences here in Houston. And wait until you see the article and the job the owner did with it, boy, that is reall ynice. And well, of course there is the "exposure factor" involved. Positive exposure like this affects all aMC owners, no matter what your choice of AMC sled. So nice to see that, as many times AMCs when featured in other magazines are in the back of the bus, shoved in back pages with penile enlargement ads and viagra, a dangerous combo! But HMM has the AMC article in the front, and keep in mind last month they featured a 71-74 AMX buyers guide; and before that a Gremlin X and before that, well, yuo get the picture. For $12 it is great to subscribe. Anyhows, below is the short I posted on the www.amcforum.net website, enjoy and good night! Eddie Stakes ============================= As mentioned in this thread earlier on this forum: http://cgi.amcforum.net/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Chat;action=display;n um=1077347340 about the 71-74 AMX & Javelin article in the March Hemming's Muscle Machines; they followed it up in the new April 2004 issue with this: "Recreated Rarity: Can't Find A 1971 AMC Hornet SC/360? Build Your Own" which covers pages in full color 28 thru 33. Jim Donnelly is author, photos by Don Spiro, and the feature car is a abandoned in a apartment complex Hornet that was given new life by owner Bob Green and AMC fan from Cactus Cruisers AMO chapter in Arizona (which is also hosting the aMO National meet this summer): info: http://www.amonational.com While this is NOT a "real" SC/360 double kudos for the owner for rescueing a Hornet facing destruction; and kudos for Hemming's letting people know that you can build one of these 'clones' on the reasonable side, therefore keeping hopefully more cars from the crusher this one was facing. To me at least that is a double score, as the exposure factor is thru the roof and well, this car that got 'left behind at a apartment complex when the owners moved' was given another chance by a AMC fan. I personally would have rather seen a 'real' SC/360 in the article and expressed this with Jim Donnelly months ago, but also told him that I would be happy with any thing they choose to put AMC in the magazine also! Nice fat plug of my website that was unsolicited on page 10 of the new April 04 Hemmings which tells about the SC/360 Registry on my website. http://www.planethoustonamx.com/bodySC.htm Ya'll go take a look at it darn it. I had to totally rebuild that file after my website crashed New Years Day and it was a real to do, but has LOTS of new photos and info. If any of you have a SC/360 that is not registered, please send me your information to put these forgotten musclecars on the map! Great job by Hemming's again on some positive, colorful, and detailed AMC coverage! Eddie Stakes' Planet Houston AMX "home of the SC/360 Registry"
