The th400 is fine. You will have to completely dissassemble it to put a new output shaft and tail housing on it. So you have to come up with the parts( Corvette tail housing so you can have a spedometer) and since its all apart you may as well rebuild it. Or you could just get the 727 and use it as is or rebuild it. If it were me I would get the 727.

into a 2wd but its cheap and works pretty good.

I dont know what the condition of the 904 is in my gremlin, I was
told "It shifted fine when I drove it"  I can get a 727 if need be I
just dont wanna pay through the nose to rebuild it since I swiped all
my money for the gremmy.

Thoughts?
