904's can be built to take the 401's power, some people like them because they use less HP to turn than a 727. Like anything else everything costs money. Some people like the 727 because it is practically bullit proof. I think Rick has a T-400 in his Gremlin. You would have to find a doner T-400 out of a car to get the parts to convert the 4X4 one to 2 wheel drive. Again more money. No matter which way you go it's going to be money unless you can come up with a worn out T-400 out of a car for cheap for the conversion parts.
