So you can all relax, I wanted to keep the amc just needed assistance in finding good hi po parts. Are fiberglass fenders acceptable upgrades, how about a ford 9"? anyway I am new to the amc ranks need an education. <sin> Will - you have two of these cars ? One is a"parts ca"r - - badly rusted or what ? Realize : a rich kids' "Parts Car" is another mans' restoration project - and you've had the bad luck of landing 2 SC360 HORNET cars ..... so unless one is burned to the ground - or punched full of artillery shell holes - .. think about not consigning it to history . Slather it with Corroless rust killer & throw a tarp under the 'bad one' - If you've any .jpg pictures & some time - send me a .zip file to take a look at - appreciated - . I would suggest finding Steel Fenders and all the Stock pieces NOWW while you still can do so affordably . Even at that - these past two years - suddenly everyone is sticking it to the other on part prices . 'Glas hoods for the SC360 Hornet are around - as this was the 'Race AMC' - they come in pin on or bolt on - difference is $300.00 . I just posted about Franks fibreglass - so check the Archives . There are 'Glas fenders around - but remember - you get clipped on the street by some half blind Grandmother - your crush zone now starts at the firewall instead of at the front bumper - you have no deflection area with 'Glas. A 35 mph impact would put you and the front tire in the rear seat . 'Glas fenders are used - not for Rust swap outs - but on cars that have 'Tube Frames' in the front - like dirt track racers or drag cars - designed to take the hits impact while the 'Glas fender turns to dust . Hornets have started to climb in prices and parts prices have 'corrected' from being 'something off a Hornet' - to $295.00 for a previously $50.00 item . As for the 9" rear : Look for a Dana 44 out of say - an '87 Jeep Cherokee . Dana 44 is one tough mutha & still in the AMC / Mopar camp . Hit the JEEP lists on Yahoo & post / read ads for the rear . Use www.car-part.com and other search engines ....... one will turn up . Review www.arcticboy.com site on Hornets / Gremlins / Spirits . I like the 'Turbo Cast' rims - looks like something off a 'Tiger Tank' - used on '79 AMX / Spirit cars. Find things you'll want in your parts stash now - that is the phase the AMC 'party' is in - so hit the salvage yards - 'cause this is : "The Last Round Up" cowboy ......... Whatever is left in yards for tomorrow - is being crushed & what was around two years ago for cheap - isn't - it probably will come from someones' stash - and you know how that gets ... Brien.
