Hey Joe, I'm in the process of doing that very conversion on my 72 Gremlin. I found a 79(ish) Concord and removed the entire brake setup right down to and including the spindles (as several people have here and elsewhere have said to do). I took the sway bar too. So far, I've removed the left front drum setup and am just launching into rebuilding the front end with all new bushings, etc. I was having trouble getting the springs off to replace them as they were sagging slightly. It pays to have the right tools (duh!). I didn't realize the spring compressor I had was not correct for the job but once I rectified that, they came off pretty easily (though I must admit that I kept my head averted and body out of the way on every compressing turn of the tool!). Replacing the brake setup really is a pretty easy task. The only dilemma still looming is how far to go in stripping everything out before I have it painted. The interior has been gutted including the dash, AC and heater coils, etc. I removed the engine and trans and stripped out all the related paraphernalia within the compartment in preparation for that. I also pressure everything including the suspension (very nasty!!). I still have to remove the master cylindar and brake lines along the firewall. I have been debating whether to remove the steering box and column so it's out of the way. I'm replacing the manual steering with power so I have to do that anyway, but once it's out, it's a challenge to move the car around not to mention getting it to the paint shop. I want to do it right to the degree it makes sense to do so but I'm not that much of a perfectionist to go overboard (though if I had unlimited resources I would!). Good luck with your's. You'll not regret ditching the drums for sure!!
