Like I said I never did it so I was not sure, it was just a thought.
What you say Rick makes sense. That's probably why they told him it
could not be done. Me I am a customizer so I almost never had to deal
with a lot of correct restoration problems.

It won't be as easy as you may think. The original's were made with channels cut across the entie panel for the lines on the vinyl. These channels gave the pattern it's depth. I have removed the vinyl cover from a panel before. It would not have the same look if it were just glued to another backing.
