Hi Folks,
I'm in the process of restoring my 72 Gremlin. So far
I've stipped out the engine compartment and pulled the
engine and tranny to pressure wash all of it of what
was obviously 20 years of neglect. Some of the crud
was on so thick that even 2000psi couldn't dislodge
it. The only thing remaining there to be removed is
the master cylindar and the brake lines across the
firewall. Then the whole car and engine bay can be
repainted.
I picked up a set of disk brakes to replace the drums
and am about to start rebuilding the front end. I ran
into a snag last night on trying to remove and replace
the coil springs (sagging). Seems there's
insufficient room for the spring compressors to
function. Nutz!! Have to locate a different set of
tools.
The interior has been gutted pending further cleanup
and rebuilding. I removed the dash, heater and AC
housings and coils. There's some rust through in a
couple of spots but nothing major.
While all this has been going on, I've been looking
towards the future and what wheels and tires to
eventually outfit her with. I've gone back and fourth
from obtaining some 16" wheels with lower profile
tires to keeping it somewhat stock. I keep coming
back to those rallye wheels with the volcano hubs.
Question: Are those difficult to find? I like the
looks of them. What width rims are they usually? 6"?
Any one have a set or know where I can find some?
Thoughts?
