You know that subject was not brought up 8 years ago when I got my insurance on my yellow Hornet. Not that it would have mattered as I don't race any more anyway. The problem I had was that Taylor and a few other classic insurance companies required you to have a daily driver with regular insurance. That was no problem as I always had a beater since 1979. My problem was that they wanted the daily driver to be not more than 5 years old. My Chebby was I think 22 years old at the time. I found a company that had an agent on Long Island and the company had no restriction on the age of the daily driver. The company has since been bought out twice and is now owned by Hagetry. I don't know what their policy is on the age of your daily driver but I guess I am grand fathered in now. I haven't had a claim or any problem in all this time. I even got my insurance cards for the orange car before they got the required pictures of the car that I had sent. "Doc" ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Yahoo! I've been looking at Collector Car insurers and one
thing pops up over and over-
Just about all of them require that the car not be
involved in any kind of racing, rally or any other
'timed event'.
How is it you guys with vintage cars that you race
insure your cars? I can't imagine all those cars at
Cecil were uninsured. Is everyone lying to the insurer?
Are they insured some other way I haven't seen?
John
