It probably is rust after all these years and pin hole developed. Unfortunately these things happen at the most inopportune times I would say use the epoxy tank sealer for now to get you through the show and cruises you want to go to and then have it repaired properly. There are places that repair tanks to like new condition and also tank sealing kits are sold for just such problems. The kits last step is a sealer that coats the inside of the tank with a rubbery film. I tried one on my yellow car a few years ago but was unhappy with the results. Fortunately The tank from a later Hornet/Concord that was 20 gallons versus the original 16 gallon one was available new so I installed a new one. with only minor modifications. Maybe a Spirit tank would fit a Gremlin. I can only comment on Hornet's so I can not say for sure about a Spirit tank fitting. But it sounds logical. "Doc" ------------------------ Yahoo! --- Begin Message ---Got a problem. I went to a car show tonight. At least I got to a car show. I backed into my spot walked around a little came back to the car and the man parked next to mine said I had a big problem. He said I had something leaking from the back of my car. I looked under it and a stream of gas was pouring out. It is about twice the size of pencil lead. I knew I couldn't leave it there so I said the hell with it and drove it home. I prayed a lot. I got under it and on the bottom it has a small hole. It doesn't look like anything hit it. The outside of the tank looks good. No rust. I taped all around the hole and it feels and sounds solid. I expected to push a big whole in it. You guys think it is 26 years of rust on the inside of the tank or just one of those things. I need to have Gremmie running by next weekend the big car show in the park is then. I got some Permatex fuel tank r epair Epoxy. I think 25 years ago I used something like this to fix a leak in a gas tank on an old Ford Van. I don't know but I guess I am getting older but the thought of sticking some kind a putty on the bottom of my gas tank and having it hold as got me a little worried. Anybody else spring leaks in their gas tank and what did you do about it.
