RE: [BaadAssGremlins] Re: Insurance Card

Yes.  You're right.  There's money involved.

It's called Big Insurance.
The same people that brought you the 55mph speed limit back the 70s  (but it was blamed on "no more oil")

When certain laws are enacted, their profits jump another few points, but your premiums never go down, do they?

Helmet laws.  Seat belt laws.  Speed limits.  Airbag laws, and a nonstop tidalwave of regulations and limitations.  Pretty much anything where they might have to pay out a dime is made illegal "to keep you safe" because, after all, you don't know how to keep yourself safe.

They exert tremendous influence on every industry (name the industry that does not buy insurance) and every part of every level of government.

Seems in most cases the only reason laws are enacted is because in some way or another it benefits someone financially to make it happen.  Is there such a thing as a Seat Belt manufacturers lobby in DC?

What I love is the fact you have to have to wear a seat belt in Kentucky
and Indiana but a guy can  pull up next to on a bike and he doesn't have to wear
a helmet.
