yup, plenty of stories like that.  read one a few years ago by a
writer who bought a tricked-out lowrider from a lot in la - the
dealer's employee built it, then got killed in viet nam.  the writer
was fascinated by the hydraulics and everything, probably sold it when
something broke.

could also be that carnut dad [or grandpa] bought the donohue, finally
died, and heirs who know nothing about cars and care less were just
happy to get rid of the 'old heap'.
