As far as I can tell AMC was the only source for 3.91 gears -- factory only item. Never have seen them aftermarket, just in the AMC Group 19 catalog. Probably something the engineers dreamed up as "just right" for performance. The Group 19 parts go from 3.91 to 4.44 -- another ratio you don't see in the aftermarket.

I have looked at all the after market gear sets . . . They all jump from 3.73s
to 4.10s . . . they all skip 3.91s
