Re: [AMC-list] timing chains

Thanks Frank,

The tips are welcome for helping me make decisions. So far it looks like a Cloyes double roller or the Rollmaster suggested by Davis.

Armand, any double roller replacement is fine. Just make sure that the oil passages in the back of the gear are clear and the oil hole lines up. There have been reports of casting flash being left in the grooves. Easy to clean up with a file, just check them before running the engine.

Looking for some information on timing chains, anyone got an opinion about which brand timing chain for the AMC V8 serves the purpose the best and doesn't tear you up financially?

Got any bad experiences to relate??

Is the Cloyes chain the best available?

Anyone got any ideas about where to find a gear drive? or which one to stay away from?
