It would be close... I'd think close enough to work fine. Check the firewall plug though (bulkhead connector). You'll need the TSM wiring diagram for the 79 Spirit and a 79 CJ. The 79 AMC TSM has the bulkhead plug diagram, the wires are just labeled by connector position where the connector would be. I have a 74 Jeep diagram and it's close, so I think you would be okay, but some or all of the wiring positions might be different. All I'd think is you might have to lengthen a few wires, maybe the tail light wires.

I was wondering if any one knows if a jeep 1979 V8 wiring harness would work on my sons Spirit V8 ? ?Are jeep wiring harnesses close to the same as the cars?
