There may be a length problem with the A500 trans, if you mean the 42RE from a Grand Cherokee. The AW4 is slightly shorter, but many newer Grand Cherokees are fully computerized, which would be a pain to install (too many sensors, including for the electronic speedo)
   Most YJs and TJs used the 999 3 speed auto.
