John,

I hear that 401 cranks are still rather plentiful. However I don't see very
many of them around where I live. Your best bet is to get hooked up with as
many AMC people as possible stateside and ask them for help finding the
crank.
Another thought would be to watch ebay. Cranks show up there on occaision
too.
I always used to think it was challenging to find AMC parts here in the
States, I can only imagine the challenge of finding parts and getting them
into the UK.
