The Grey Marine intakes were built for low profile and may not work so hot on a car. Some of them have two sidedraft two barrels (one in front, one in back) that are definitely restrictive to flow, but very low profile.

The 4V 327 had a 9.7:1 compression ratio, 2V had 8.7:1. Difference was in the pistons. Power ratings were 250 for the 2V, 270 for the 4V. Only 20 hp added with two extra barrels and an extra point of compression. 2V model first appeared in 1960, 57-59 models were all high comp/4V.

I see Grey Marine 4 bbl intakes for "cheap" at times. Taking the weight off the motor helps a bit too. Didn't the "real" 4 bbl motors come with higher compression too? It's definitely rumored to be that way in the jtrucks.Just keeping an eye on this topic since Isabelle has a Jtruck with 2 bbl 327 now. (I'll be delivering the other one I have to a friend possibly wednesday.) Too bad I already tossed the heads I had. I could've practiced my style of head porting.
