I commend the fellow who is probably 400 lbs and one of the few people who could out eat me in rib eatin contest (I didn't challenge him!) that he is working on trying to get the car running, driving, stopping and doing a lot of work himself....in the oppresive heat (it has been upper 90s this week, and whole coming week will be 95-100 degrees) but neat to see someone fixing up old car when he just as easily could spend the money on something else. Like ribs.

PS: few cars are perfect....just as soon as one builds what they think is perfect....a judge tells them different or they see something else want to add to vehicle or change something.....

  He wants it to have that vintage look. I bet his valve covers and his air cleaner have a few nicks and bumps in them too. While most guys like you to see a bunch of chrome and you can eat off of them still there is few out there that pop their hoods and they are less than perfect. I seldom raise my hood but when I do the question I get is why do I have all those clothes pins in there. A few do know though. I guess I should break down and get me some nice looking insulation and put on the fuel lines but what the hell they keep it from stalling and they are a coservation piece.

            Not used......everyone has them new, I spoke with AJ at South Texas AMC just west of me arlier he sells them for $260 new, but local guy wanted a used one.

              Anyone have a good used AMC V8 timing chain cover laying around reasonable? A local friend 
              of mine in Houston stopped by today as he is fixing up a 72 Javelin 360/AT, and the old 
              timing chain cover on the 74 AMX I am parting out was split near bottom, I thought it was 
              good but hadn't inspected it as too hot with temsp in mid 90s to 105 recently so not worth 
              crawling under car when that hot. But if anyone has a good used AMC V8 timing chain cover 
              email me with price and your phone number and area code and I'll quickly pass the message
