Re: [AMC-list] HMX back on the road!- leaf rubber

The springs themselves and the better ( if memory serves me from when I had
my Eagle with similar, though swapped- leafsabove axle ) clamping is the
superior aspect. That is to say - the spring rate, and clamping points were
worked out to be better than say, a '70 AMX. The rubber "isolators" served
improving the NVH, particularly when you have a fairly stout spring rate.

Separating the leaves effectively also prevents or reduces stiction
between the individual leafs. The rubber at the clamp is, again, for NVH
reduction, yet the overall clamping methodology located the leaf pack better
on the perch.

Hmmm... Maybe I'll try that first when I re-assemble.
