Re: [AMC-list] 69 Ambassador front end, floorboards and gas tank

Well it is definetly salvageable as it almost completely rust free but has no powertrain. The guy has been trying to sell it forever. I do not like the 4 door sedans but I do love the wagons! My 67 reb wagon is in fabulous shape other than the front floorboards and I am torn between fixing it and selling it as is... a running 232:3 spd on the column. I haven't been able to find reasonably priced floorboards and this seemed like a good option but taking out these floorboards would make this Ambo unsaleable, inmho. Ultimately I would like to find a Matador wagon (favorite front end) or a 69-73 Ambo wagon... either 2 rusty or 2 much from what I have found so far.

Maybe we can work a deal out for the parts I need to finish mine and I can tow this to your place.. Chicago, right?

Will these parts fit on a 67 Rebel Station Wagon?? I know the front end is different, a little longer... but I sure like the look better than the
Rebel!???

1) Then why not just keep the Ambo as a driver?

2) The entire diff between the Ambassador and the Rebel is the added 8-12 (depending on year) inches between the front edge of the front door and the back edge of the front wheel well. Likewise the front subframe member is stretched by the same amount. Everything else, from the leading adge of the front door back to the rump is generally identical at least as far as location, and also usually styling as well.

Someone told me that the floorpans are the same, and I guess that's probably true because the added length of an Ambassador was all ahead of the front door edge -- AMC used visual trickery to make people think the Ambassador was bigger inside than the Johnny Reb.

I need front floor boards also and I believe these will work.?
Gas tank work from 4 door sedan Ambo to a Station Wagon?

I can check my parts book later this evening, unless someone else beats me to it.

BTW, I have two 69 Ambassadors. If you're getting a '69 parts car, I might want to get some things from you if you'd like to sell any bits. But, if it's a repairable car, please don't part it. We hobbyists are killing our own hobby whenever we tear apart AMC products that still have life left in them.
