Re: [AMC-list] wanted amc javelin

It's like watching the people over at Memorial City Mall right now shopping! The parking lot at I-10 and Gessner 100% full, and traffic all around that area is is nighmare....I got stuck in it yesterday going to Office Depot..could not get out of parking lot onto I-10 feeder east, so went thru lot back to Jason's Deli to get something to eat, waited, watch traffic continue to build, so jumped in my 74 Hornet Sportabout to test driving skills....which considering I don't drive anything but AMC....are rather sharp at 51 years old still, and the Hornet can scoot and joust with the best of them SUVs.

And the SUVs....90% of the people driving those big things....their idea of off roading is a gravel driveway, or as I saw yesterday, jumping curb to cut thru parking lot! I guess that counts as 4x4'ing.

Haha, like the 50/50 comment below but really true....sit around and stuff yourself with delicious swap meet or cruise night sausage, walk around, sit again, take a few pix, wait for 50/50 and after that over, evacuate parking lot like someone called a blue light special at K-Mart!

You know Eddie it is all what you want. Yea I know the thrill of being kick backed in my seat and watching my speedometer head toward the 100 mark in a short distance. That was when I was a kid. Now that I am 60 my failing eye sight, slow reactions I would probably just see the tree coming at me as I lost it coming off the line. If I was lucky I would wake up in a hospital room. Like I said before most of these fire eating dragons I see at car shows never see 60mph and the only racing that is done is to get out of the parking lot after the 50/50 is drawn. So take your 6 banger remove the muffler and run you a cross over pipe so you will have two exhaust pipes coming out the back and tell everyone you have a 401 in it. 90% of these car guys would never know the difference as long as you kept the hood closed. Actually a lot of these good old boys I run into you could pop the hood and they would stand around and look and say I never saw a 401 AMC engine before. duh

Something I have mentioned before with the six bangers is Ed Fernandez used to win (and
probably still does) Top Eliminator in his six banger powered Gremlin up in Cecil County.
I believe he was turning 11's in it, quite a sight to see zipping down the track, sort of
like watching a Buick Grand National or GNX with a turbo six go down 1/4 mile, sounds like
someone letting air out of ballon until you see the board flash 12s or 11s then go WTF!

Good to see though not all the six banger Javelins ended up parts cars for AMX. I know
Marc (who strated this thread) has been trying to sell a good looking 71 Ambassador for
  awhile,

  http://epage.com/js/mi/n0/1782082.html

reasonable, and don't want someone to simply buy, yank engine and discard rest like som
many have done thru decades with four door and wagons and well, six cylinder changeouts.

With that in mind here is a Christmas list of six cylinder Javelins that need homes. Wife
Paige said we might be looking at $5 gallon of gas again next year (she works oilfield
comnay here in Houston) so maybe good time to buy a six banger Javelin:

  1968 Javelin

  http://newyork.craigslist.org/que/cto/2118804135.html

I'm pretty sure this Javelin is also a six, note all the MOD package stuff on the 1968:

74 Javelin with six, note background nest of Javelins & AMXs

  http://knoxville.craigslist.org/cto/2106981278.html

  Good looking 73 Javelin,

  http://harrisburg.ebayclassifieds.com/classic-cars/northumberland/1973-amc-javelin-6cyl-auto/?ad=7763564

$920 bought this nice (my opinion) 72 Javelin with six:

  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180596629899

  note original color under hood.....

So hopefully some of those above will find homes, happy hunting,
