[AMC-list] Oil Pressure III

Volume 3 in my low oil pressure saga. The consensus was that I better check the oil pressure relief before I look elsewhere. It was also recommended I tighten up the clearance on the housing. I took off the oil filter housing, replaced gears, springs etc and used a gasket as thin as toilet paper to remount the housing, my end clearance it tight. I used new 10w-40 oil. The pressure is the same. 9-10 lbs at idle. No difference. Of course everything was new before I did all of that as the engine has only 80 miles on a compete rebuild to begin with.
So I am open for your opinions. I don't think 9 lbs of oil pressure on a new engine is acceptable. This is not an engine that has been raced, or has 50,000 miles on it. The pressure sure won't go up from where it is now.
I know some of you think I should not worry about oil pressure at 9lbs at 800 rpm. But shouldn't it be higher given the fact that it is a new engine, has not even been broken in, with new oil, started in the late fall/winter? That is the absolute best it will ever be. Would that worry any of you? I ask that question seriously, I really want your opinions based on your experience with AMC. I live in Arizona. What happens when I start it up and it is 115 degrees outside and the engine is broken in? Should a NEW engine have better oil pressure, because this is a new engine. Everything has been dipped, polished, machined and replaced. What would oil pressure be off the showroom floor? Please give me your thoughts and comments. And if pressure is low, where do I look next?

Thanks,
Jim
