Re: [AMC-list] Oil pressure

Dan,
I was getting 7-psi hot on the 360 in my GW, so I sanded the end of the timing
cover, with a palm sander to tighten up the tolerances, then went with
20W50 Amsoil, that brought it up to 12 PSI at hot idle.  I ran it for at least
15,000 miles like that.

I've been getting about 10 PSI at hot idle ever since my 401 was rebuilt
(pretty low idle, maybe 500 RPM  or slightly less).  I'd like to see more,
but have had no issues after 5+ years on the road.

Dan

"Standard old-shool rule of thumb was 10-psi for every 1000 RPM. "

I believe this is for chebbys and such. Most AMC TSMs call for at least 13
at
idle and over 37 at highway rpm. (with hot oil I assume)
