My vehicles from about the same time period were a '72 Toyota Corrolla with 1.2L auto, '57, '61 and '64 Vauxhall Victors with Super 101 ( that's cubic inches in an early Falcon sized car), Vauxhall Velox, Cresta and Envoy/Epics galore. '66 VW van with 36 HP 1200cc (replaced 17 times with gradually bigger engines) 
   VW Type 3 and 4 (then I gave up on aircooled engines) Mazda RX2 was my first taste of power (aside from the 194 powered Novas) and a Hornet wagon with 258 (had one with a 304 but it was knocking when I got it)
   I would like to put a 4.0L with the EFI and AW4 in place of the 258 in that Matador. Speaking of AMCs, my old next door neighbor from Skyway called me the other day. She moved to Texas and got re-married. Her kids still live up this way (I'm their god parent) Seems she found a car she fell in love with again. An AMC wagon with 401!

Okay, I know it's just plain wrong - but I kinda like the coffin-nosed
Matty's. Especially the wagons.

Adequate performance? My cars were a '71 Simca, a 68 Nova with 230
six, 2 speed powerglide and one barrel carb, 64 Karmann Ghia, Ranger
pickup with 2.3 and a 5 speed, Mazda 323P (for Peon), Saturn SL1 and a
Corolla. I know all about just barely adequate performance, lol.
