My experience with the 9XX series is something gets out of balance inside the converter, then POP! they stop moving. Often with a pool of ATF under them from the converter neck breaking. I've also seen the input shaft to the trans get twisted from zealous guys getting on the gas heavy while braking (especially if the motor has a bit extra oomph)

Joe,  advance does the same crap. They still list AMC, but are missing large groups of crossover parts. 
 
What I do is cross the stuff over on Rock Auto, then go to Advance and blind them with brilliant ability to do such a thing (use a computer to crossover a part)...
