Re: [AMC-list] Fw: 4 speed setup interchange Spirit to Javelin

The pedals need to come from a 68-74 Javelin. The trans will bolt up, but be aware that it's an SR4. That was barely adequate for the six. AMC used it behind the 304 in the 79 AMX (Spirit body), but it was marginal. You'd have to get the driveshaft length and front yoke changed, but any driveline shop will do that for under $200 provided you have the ends (the old driveshafts). Note that a Mustang T-5 will bolt in place of an SR4 -- same bolt pattern. That's what I'd be using instead of the SR4. You need a pre 95 T-5. If you have a close to stock 360 or a 304 the T-5 will be okay, just take it a bit easy if you've got the 360.

Is it possible to swap the complete 4 speed setup from a donor Spirit 6cyl car into an
1972 V8 Javelin? What about drive shaft and pedals /linkage?
Thanks!
