81/82 have the issue of the hub snapping off (passenger's side) due to being over tightened at the factory.

If the rear axle is "broke" on the Eagle I bet it's a spun hub.
 
You can still build a 4.6L stroker. Computer or wiring harness isn't needed -- use a
distributor and intake off a 1980+ w/aluminum intake (or aftermarket 4V intake). It
works well with a carb too!
