Re: [AMC-list] a voice from the past

Welcome back to the dark side. Paul Dywer long gone from AMC I believe, his website was abandoned, sort of left up by itself on skidmore.edu. I got ahold of him by accident, as the old amxfiles.com vendors list had tons of dead folks on it, and places long since out of business. But his vendors list had captured mine originally, but that one abandoned on the skidmore.edu site was from 1999. It still had (God bless em) AMCers that have passed on and up with Dick Teague on it like Joe Lazur, Lee Peterson, John Slabe, Lee Fanning to name a few. There were also many places listed that have folded in 10+ years.

What I did was contact skidmore.edu and ask them to delete that vendors list from their files since they were host, also asked if they could contact Paul Dwyer for me and forward my message to him in which I mentioned that I had been contacted by some of the deseased families to please take that information down. One was John Slabe's widow. John was Nash/Rambler/AMC dealer in Little Falls NY, of which I have CASES of NOS literature from his dealership stamped:

but she said 'Eddie, can you please take John's information off your site as people call here all times of day and night wanting to talk to John, but are disappointed when I tell them he died 8 years ago and we sold off all the AMC & Rambler things'. I felt really bad and apologized profusely to her and tried to explain that was NOT my site....but copied off my site. This is my Planet Houston VENDORS list in current form and it is updated almost monthly.....especially with area code changes and some places out of business with crappy economy in 2010:

Anyways, Paul emailed me and said 'he had long sold his Eagle and totally forgotten those old web pages' of when he was active in aMC hobby. Great stuff on some of them showing a true enthusiast!Maybe some of them can be transferred to www.eaglesnest.com site perhaps. I don't remember if Paul is teaching at Skidmore or not.

On your diecasts......while craigslist might not be a option, maybe epage.com is and while you mentioned ebay, my suggestion is if you plan on dumping them on ebay put them up for sale in Oct/Nov for 'Christmas presents' as that is when I unload many extra diecasts myself as they make great stocking stuffers you know. Or you could put together a list of all you have, with prices, and put them here on amc-list, also badassgremlin yahoo group and original amc forum at www.amccars.net perhaps for lots of exposure and maybe get them into habds of people who might need some to fill collection, or like me, play with them on floor with kids like David Hasslehoff rolls around eating cheese burger on floor. Welcome back though,
Eddie Stakes

A Voice From The Past...
Hi guys!

It has been an insanely long time since I last posted anything on the List -
I was flying with Eagles at the time...

I dropped out of the AMC hobby shortly after I inherited my granddads
Plymouth - I've long since gotten rid of the Eagle wagon. I tooled around on
the Mopar mailing list up until I couldn't drive the Plymouth any more due
to a bad camshaft. My vehicle of choice now is a '77 Ford F150 4x4...

I see Paul Dwyer still has that little writeup I did on how to perform an
MCU bypass on his website - cool...

Anyhoo, way back in the day, I was collecting up 1/64 AMC diecasts - some
came from members of the List - Eddie Stakes rings a bell, but I can't
remember who else I purchased from...

I now find I don't have the room for them - I have a fairly decent
collection of Johnny Lightnings that are all still in the original packaging
- a few Hot Wheels and Matchbox - mostly JL's - including various "Drag-On"
Lady AMX's and a couple of unpackaged (but not played with) ThunderJets
Javelins.

Is there still a market for them here? Ebay is not an option for me and I'm
not sure Craigslist would be any better. I'd rather see them go to people
who will appreciate them for what they are.

If there is an interest, I can generate a list of what I have and take
pictures, if I need to. I'll need to figure out pricing, also... lol...

Thanks.

Terry Warren
