Re: [AMC-list] Non AMC Question...

First a "why this thread is being allowed" statement: It's generically EFI related and a few of us are running EFI systems or considering such in the future.

Well, it depends on the cleaner being used. If some "high powered" stuff like Sea-Foam has been used a couple times and it hasn't made much difference I'd be inclined to think the problem isn't dirty injectors either. I'd check fuel pressure first and change the filter if it hasn't been changed recently. I had problems with my Rambler recently (Jeep 4.0L Renix system) that acted like ignition. Changed the ignition module at it seemed to run better for 2-3 days, then started "acting up" again (maybe the module was part of the problem...). Turned out to be a fuel pump, which I'd just replaced about 14 months earlier, and about a week before another went out (did get #2 replaced under warranty, though it turns out it was my fault). I didn't replace the filter between the pump and engine when replacing the pump the second time though. Did this time (3rd time), and it was nearly plugged! The filter most likely caused the pump to go out from the strain. I know better than to replac
e a pump and not the filter! Of course the in-tank filter (pickup strainer) was replaced -- has to be to get a warranty. Oh, I just found a spare in-tank pump in the box on my shelves too... a few days AFTER I bought a replacement of course. Probably won't remember I have it or where it is next time, which should be at least five years from now.

You can sure tell when I have been up all nite, my posts are all chopped up. I suggested, if you couldn't follow me, that if the car has a history of using injector cleaners and it is still running bad, then maybe it is not the injectors......Russ
