I did something similar with ratchet straps when I loaded a 64 Classic wagon on my car trailer a couple of years ago.  I was bringing it home to part out.  I was a failed hotrod project by the previous owner.

on my t-tube cars i have done the same thing with, i just use ratchet straps.
one from each side of the axe going up to the trans cross member to hold the
axle forward so it dont pull the park brake. that has always been good enough
for me.
