[AMC-list] full-flow filtration

OK. Done, I hope. Put the full flow filtration back in the car. I suppose
it's *possible* that the oil exiting the cover, and not the pump base, could
have some weird side effect, but it seems unlikely at this point. Time will
tell, as it always does.

But it's quite satisfyingly robust now. The whole modification is quite
easy.

* Custom cover with outlet
* blockoff plate made from 18 or 20 gauge steel (just copy the base gasket,
minus the outlet hole)
* remote filter kit (pitch the screw on part)
* 1/4" NPT to 1/2" flare adapter
* two premade hoses
* three socket-head bolts
* Wix 1374 filter

Chalk the rest of it up to "research". In hindsight the teflon/stainless
braid hoses are obvious. All the crazy relief valve problems and the
on-the-road failure were from needlessly "blueprinting" the pump. I have a
dead stock pump in there now with the above parts.

I put a thin coat of Right Stuff on both sides of the blockoff plate that
replaced the gasket. Cut a top gasket from 1/64" paper, Right Stuff there
too.

I forgot to take a picture of the blockoff plate but I'll update the oil
pump page shortly. I think it's a worthwhile and easy enough fix for any
195.6. You can do it with the engine in the car.

Would be easy to make kits for this. Good place to add an oil cooler but
honestly, it's hard to imagine this engine needing one. The oil temperature
has never exceeded 190F (IR thermometer on the oil pump after an hour's
drive).
