[AMC-list] Noisy Water Pump 232

I replaced the water pump today the 232 in my 64 Classic because the old one was leaking. I'm waiting for parts on the 65 American and I need to get the 64 Classic driveable.   I did not notice a noise when I rotated the pump until I got the fan bolted in place.  At one point in the rotation (rotating manually) it sounds like the pump fins are hitting the housing.  Don't want to go any further until I figure it out.  The replacement  pump seemed sound (no noticeably bent shaft or runout on the pump end).   Anyone else have the happen?
 
I didn't notice any obstructions behind the fan pulley either.
