You can use a scissor type strut spring compressor, that's about all you can use in your case. The "GaryJav" and factory tools require the car to be in one piece and the engine in. The scissor type compressor works well with the fender off.

Is a special tool needed for the '69 Rebel front springs? (the car is cut up now and I cut the 2 towers off complete)
