Dave,

Don't recycle that block, rods and crank. The rust can be removed, citric
acid like we've discussed here, or several other methods. If the block isn't
cracked, it can be cleaned up. Some companies cook the block in an oven and
burn out the crud. The rust can be removed by media blasting, the block can
be over bored, rods can be rebuilt, the block can be line bored both for the
crank and the cam bores,
Don't Throw it Away.
If you were closer to me, I would gladly get it from you before you decided
to toss it.
