I think you cleared it all up for us Tom, thanks! I've never had a volcano crank to measure, going by what others have said in the past or assumed, and you know how that can go!

Volcano and flat butts are NOT interchangeable with the manual transmission.
have both in the shop, plus a mock-up T-96 (input shaft and bearing
mounted in an empty case).
