I have a T5 bell, clutch and other parts for the swap if the SR4 can handle the 4.2L. The parts are in Seattle.

Claire below is wondering whether a 4sped trannie behind is 151 4cyl will stand up to a 258-6. I personally think it would those are indestructible little trannies, I believe a Chevy 350 will bolt up to it also. Clair is wanting to know if the 4 speed manual trans out of a 1980 Spirit with 4 cyl 151 engine is beefy enough to go behind a 258 I6 cyl in his 1977 Hornet Hatchback - AMX clone?  Do you have any interchange info?
 
I found:  http://www.gremlinx.com/AMC-Transmissions.htm  but did not see a reference to what was used behind the 151 in 1980???
