Re: [AMC-list] full flow oil pump hacking

The E-stick pump housing is exactly like the standard housing, only longer (and naturally has longer gears). The cover has a control valve in it that bled oil pressure off to a hydraulic servo that kept pressure on the clutch. Clutch arm worked in reverse -- arm was pushed by the hydraulic servo to keep clutch engaged. Take pressure from the servo and a light spring disengaged the clutch. I had one for a while, took the E-stick stuff out and put a standard trans in. Once the engine gets enough miles on it that oil pressure drops a bit the E-stick slips too much and really goes through clutches. I didn't use it long at all, had close to 100K on the engine (I think a bit over 80K) and oil pressure was low enough it was hard to keep a clutch in it.

I wish I had an E-stick pump! Hard to find though. Galvin's has the
housings, but not the gears, and I'd want a whole one to see what oddities
pop up.
