[AMC-list] flat butt vs. volcano butt cranks

I am quite certain that the flywheel will bolt to either. That's not the
problem.

What I need to verify is whether the manual trans nose will fit properly
into the pilot bushing when the bellhounsing is on to set the depth. I am
fairly certain it will NOT FIT. (I would love to be wrong here.) The volcano
butt has the bushing at the top of the volcano; the flat butt has the pilot
below the flywheel mounting surface.

I have all the parts to verify this (I have for some time). Now that I'm out
slinging iron in the yard I will do the measurements and put them on wps.com.

THAT is why I didn't just build that '58 shortblock up and do a swap. I
don't believe it will take the '63 manual trans setup. I know the '63 flat
crank will!

Can't argue with cast iron. "Spoze-ta" doesn't matter!
