top cover or side cover?  the t85 and t89 are side cover - like the
t10 which evolved from them - but the lighter t86 has a 6-bolt top
cover, and was a h/d opt over the t96 before the t14 in '68.  also,
the t86 has an almost-square bolt pattern like [but not the same as]
the t96, but the t85/t89 has a tall pattern with one lower hole kicked
out, shared i think with the t10.  btw the top bolts are shared with
the t86.

the t86 is definitely not full synchro.  i don't know about the
t85/t89.

either setup would be great for say a jeep 4.0 into a '63-'66 classic.
