Re: [AMC-list] best automatic behind

You have to have a crank adapter to use the TF trans on a BW crank flange. There are two adapters available from your favorite AMC supplier. One requires some machine work on the crank (just turning down a bit IIRC, nothing costly), the other is a bolt-on design that has a 1/4" spacer to fit between the bell and block to make up for the extra thickness of the adapter. Total cost is roughly the same for both after you add the cost of the machine work. The machine work adapter is recommended for high power race only applications, the bolt-in is fine for the vast majority of others.

CRAP!!! i forgot about the different flexplate/pilot bushing for the 71 304's.
i beleive thats what mine is. i was hoping to be able to fit some cj over the
rail headers in rosie. i dont plan to race it hard if i do race it any.
probably hardly ever. does anyone make a pilot bushing and flexplate to work
with the later tf trans? whats the gearing difference of the tf trans, and
the aw4, (i think that was the late model trans mentioned) it is not
electronicaly controled is it? i want to stay AWAY from electronics. hate
them.
