casper is done the exact same way. 2.25 exhaust. i run a "thrush" muffler.
sounds pretty cool. a year ago last july, i was at the big boise car show.
"north west motorfest" and they shut down the streets in down town boise,
idaho. i was there cruisin, idling majority of the time ya know. and i had a
couple of people thought that i had a serious cam in that thing. i had the
valves adjusted just a weeee bit tighter than they needed to be, and for some
reason it was wanting to idle at about 450 rpms that night, so it had a
serious loping sound to it. like an aggresive street/strip cam. ran GREAT
that way, but it was only that night it sounded like that. anyway, had a
couple people thought that i had hotrodded it ALOT, and 2 guys that knew a
little about that 196 asked me how i got it to run like that. i just told
them that the valves were a little tighter than spec and the exhaust, and
thats how they are. i think they sound just friggin AWSOME myself like that.
that long stroke, little lope, and a great sounding exhuast note. there is a
video footube where you can hear casper's sewing machine going by. if you
look up "northwest motorfest" and get the video of the 2008 country cruise i
think is what its under. its a ways into it, but you see/hear casper go by.
sounds so funny, because you hear these v8 hotrodded cars go by with that
nasty loud v8 rumble, then you hear this little sewing machine go by. LOL.
