Keep in mind this is a torque tube car. Finding a tranny you can bolt to a given engine is going to be a lot easier than finding a non-stock tranny that bolts to the torque tube. The entire drive line can be replaced to switch to an open drive shaft but that is a lot of work. Also, it's likely this car has a T-96 in it if its a manual and given how weak those are and how hard parts are getting to come across, I think in this case it's best to leave well enough alone.
