I suggest the hose because if there is an accident, it will flex rather than rupture.

And if you don't have the tools or skills to braze, you can sweat solder or use epoxy. Wait 12 hours for epoxy to cure before driving or adding gas. Why driving? vibrations. You can also get straight fuel hose in big enough diameters from NAPA. A short piece can be used to tie everything together at one or both ends, which makes it easier to pull apart later. Of course with any luck you won't have to pull it back apart!
