The meet had great weather, a great turnout for September seeing some
have kids in school and the economy isn't the greatest. A lot of vendors,
some great AMC Drag racing. The car show had over 80 sharp AMC's in it.

I will post more about the event when I get time, now trying to get all
the paperwork for the event done, pay the racers that didn't pick up
there winnings, figure out the special awards and get them mailed off,
get the clubs checking account done, unpack, etc., etc.!!!

Just would really like to thanks all of those that attended the event and
for those that didn't because of the early bad weather reports that some
posted on the various forums, lists, etc, you lose.

Our car club celebrated its 15th anniversary with a show this past Sunday.
Here are a couple shots of the field.
We had about 20 cars show up, ranging from Larry's (original owner) 343 4-speed
67 American to my 80 Spirit. It was great. : )

My '68 AMX am/fm radio has blown up for the third time in 3 1/2 years. The first time it got hot and stopped working. The second time it got hot, the car filled with some smoke, and the radio stopped working. I don't recall which parts were replaced. Darn it, the radio got hot again just the other day and again doesn't work.

What do y'all think? Bad voltage regulator (no other gauges have been affected, btw)? Grounded wire--car or radio? I'd like to fix this issue once and for all.

What about installing a modern radio chassis in the original box? Dennis Gage's "My Classic Car" highlights vendors who do such a thing...but the cause of it all...any experience here or educated guesses?

Sounds to me like a power transistor is bad. I might have a manual in pdf format somewhere for that radio (includes the schematic). I'll look around.

What, you're not into sports talk shows?

i got one of them sasche radio mount kits for under dash mount...

I assume you mean "Scosche":

I had one of their underdash kits in my Rambler American a while back. I would much rather install one of them than wear out the factory radio.

Seeing a blitz of HEI billet distributors on Ebay,
red caps, blue, etc. for around $80. Anyone bought and used one of
these, are they acceptable for the 232 / 258 engine? Just wanted to
know if anyone else has bought and tried one yet. I NEED one for my '76
Hornet, and this seems a reasonable price, but don't want price to
trump quality. Thanks for any input.

The folks below are looking to retrofit a 77 AMX tachometer into their 73 Hornet hatchback. I emailed them schematic of 77 AMX wiring diagram, but figured some of you might want to comment also, thanks in advance to all who might and be sure to also copy your reply to Dudley who would appreciate it.

Hello,

I have a 1973 hornet hatchback 258 that I want to install a tach in. I have a 6-cyl tach from a 1977 hornet AMX. Looking at the back of the tach, the left connection has a black wire. The right connection has both a brown wire and a yellow wire. The light bulb has an orange wire. Can you tell me where to hook the black, yellow, and brown wires. I looked at the tach diagrams on your website for 68-70 and 71-74 AMX/Javelin and think the 70-74 digram may be close.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Greetings,

Someone stole my freshly pinstriped gas cap...
?
Does anybody out there have a spare gas cap that they would be willing to sell ?
?
It does not matter if its old or newer, chrome or regular metal, however, mine had the chrome beveled bar across the center...and this would be for the two door sedan with the gas filler neck located?in the middle of the rear valance between the tail lights...

Please call me at the numbers below or reply via e-mail to: realtorbill@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

In order to keep from driving around with a rag stuck in your tank like on an old Gremlin, you can get a generic Stant gas cap that will fit. That's what's on my 65 American right now. The problem with the Rambler gas caps is that many of them look the same, but the dimensions (mainly the depth) is/are different between different Rambler model years and series. So unless someone has a gas cap that they KNOW fits a 65 American sedan, it's a crap shoot.

Bill do you have an extra passenger side tail light fixture or do you know where to get one? Condition of the chrome is not too important but I need it to have a good light socket.
